Dental implants in Turkey: one trip or two?

Dental implant treatment often requires two visits: one for placing the implant and another for the final restoration after healing. A temporary tooth may be possible earlier in selected cases. The clinic doctor decides the schedule after assessment.

Two treatment phases do not mean two days in the clinic

The implant is placed in bone; a crown or bridge is the visible restoration. Healing and sufficient implant stability are needed before planned loading. Cambridge University Hospitals describes a usual healing period of 3–6 months before restoration, sometimes longer if bone grafting is needed. This is general guidance, not a personal appointment date.

When are two trips planned?

One visit may cover assessment and implant placement. After healing, the patient returns for a stability check and the final crown or bridge. A full-arch case may include a temporary prosthesis followed by a definitive one. Before booking, ask how long each visit takes, who provides care between visits, and what happens if healing takes longer.

The number of surgical stages is not necessarily the number of journeys. A clinic may also need follow-up, bone augmentation or a separate prosthetic appointment.

Can an implant and a tooth be provided on one trip?

Early or immediate restoration is possible in selected cases. ITI defines immediate loading as within one week and conventional loading as after more than two months. A tooth supplied quickly may be temporary rather than the final restoration. Bone condition, primary stability, grafting needs and the prosthetic plan all matter.

“Teeth in one day” therefore does not prove that a second trip is unnecessary. Ask the clinic to distinguish the temporary and definitive work in a written schedule.

What should you clarify before setting dates?

  • Share your dental history, medical conditions and medications.
  • Ask which imaging is needed. ITI recommends deciding on CBCT individually after clinical assessment.
  • Request a plan separating surgery, healing, temporary work, final work and follow-up.
  • Clarify the cost of each stage and what happens if the plan changes after examination.

For a full-jaw restoration, ask about both bridge types. For a single missing tooth, see implant costs.

Travel follows the treatment plan

Flymedica coordinates contact and travel. Examination, eligibility, implant loading and restoration decisions belong to the doctor at the independent clinic. Do not book a return trip on the basis of a general timeline.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions

Are two trips to Turkey always necessary?

No. Separate visits for placement and final restoration are common, but the number depends on examination, the type of restoration and healing.

Is a crown fitted immediately the final one?

Not necessarily. It may be temporary. Ask the clinic to state in writing when the definitive restoration is planned.

How long is the gap between trips?

There is no universal interval. Cambridge University Hospitals describes usual healing of 3–6 months before restoration, sometimes longer. The doctor sets the timetable.

Does everyone need a CBCT scan?

No. ITI recommends deciding on CBCT according to individual clinical needs after examination and review of existing imaging.
